🪁 Mazda 3 Dpf Regeneration Procedure
since the last DPF regeneration. 1. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle. 2. Is DTC P2463 set? ⇒ If DTC P2463 is set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle in SI. After following the diagnostic procedure, return to this bulletin and PROCEED to Step 3. ⇒ If DTC P2463 is not set, then proceed to Step 3
If you drive only short distances or. your journeys contain frequent. stopping and starting, you must. initiate the regeneration process. every 500-800 kilometres (300-500. miles). To do this, drive your vehicle. at 80 km/h (50 mph) for 40. kilometres (25 miles) in the lowest.
Forced regeneration can damage a DPF if done incorrectly. In addition to this, proper maintenance requires that a DPF be manually cleaned every six to 12 months in order to function optimally.
It is important to ensure that the DOC is clean, if it is heavily coated with carbon the regeneration process could fail resulting in a blocked DPF. Wall-flow DPF’s usually remove >99.9 per cent of the soot within the exhaust gases. A DPF filter core looks like a catalytic converter core that has had alternate channels plugged.
When my injectors failed and this was a gradual thing after the first year with yearly average mpg going down until 49/ 50k when the sump would rise, dilution into 3 figures, regens down to 30 miles and life regen average down to 70 miles, DPF code up on the dash eventually, yet the DPF was doing its job, but too frequently.
If everything passes physical inspection, you can test the DPF differential pressure sensor using a multimeter set to 20V and a pressure gauge. With the battery on and engine off, connect the multimeter ground to the negative battery terminal and run a quick plausibility by checking the voltage of the battery. It should be around 12.6 volts.
The frequency of normal DPF regeneration is a function of the engine run time, miles driven, and fuel consumed since the last regeneration event. Under normal operating conditions, the normal DPF regeneration is initiated after approximately 85 gallons of fuel used or a maximum distance traveled of 2009 km (1250 miles.)

Hi i had the same on my 2009 2.2, its not that it needs the regen otherwise you would have got towed home from wales. What it was on mine was the rubber sensor hoses from the dpf run up to a señsor block hidden under the shielding the block was defective and one of the rubber hoses had a perforation, therefore it was not accurately measuring the gas pressure in and out. the sensor was screwed
After the engine has sufficiently warmed up (engine coolant temperature of 80 °C or more), depress the accelerator pedal and drive the vehicle at a speed of 20 km/h or more for about 15 to 20 minutes to eliminate the PM. When flashing Contact an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer.
10 Perform the Battery Condition Initial Setting (i-stop Setting) Procedure. (See BATTERY CONDITION INITIALIZATION SETTING (i-stop SETTING) [SKYACTIV-D 2.2] .) 11 Perform the fuel injection learning. (See FUEL INJECTOR INJECTION AMOUNT CORRECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2] .) 12 Perform compulsory DPF regeneration. (See COMPULSORY DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER
If you have too many regens you get P243C.00.2F code come up. The sensor islocated to he left of the engine up against the firewall bolted to a bracket, rubber tubes connect between the sensor and steel tubes coming offthe DPF. There is another exhaust sensor that actually measures the pressure of the exhaust.
